Rebuilding

Our company offers complete or partial rebuilding, as well as reconditioning of your piano, depending on the customer’s preference or budget.

Complete rebuilding:

During complete interior rebuilding the entire belly of the piano - soundboard, pinblock, plate, strings, pins, dampers, etc… - gets removed.
Each time new pinblock is being installed.
In certain cases the original soundboard can be repaired, shimmed and re-crowned, if needed new bridge cap can be installed. In some other cases entirely new soundboard is installed, depending on the condition of the original board and the budget.
After re-bronzing the plate the down-bearing is set, and new pins, strings, new dampers are installed.

In case your piano needs refinishing besides interior rebuilding you can find more details about this process on the “Refinishing” page.

Partial rebuilding:

Depending on the condition of the piano certain original parts can be saved and some others must be replaced. That has to be determined on a case-by-case basis after careful evaluation of the piano. This is a more economical approach to interior rebuilding.
However, in some cases, we do not recommend this option because of the age, condition or the extensive damage of certain interior parts. In these cases we recommend complete rebuilding.

Reconditioning:

This option mainly refers to a complete interior cleaning and repairing broken or damaged interior parts without removing the pinblock, soundboard, plate or strings. This can be done mostly on pianos that are not very old and are maintained well and kept in a good environment, therefore those structural elements, like pinblock, are in good condition. Again, this option has to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis – in this respect it is the same approach as partial rebuilding.

Refinishing

Our company offers partial or complete refinishing – traditional style hand-rubbed lacquer finish. Open-pore satin finish is also available as a more economical solution.
